Process:
List down all the operators in the USA using FMCSA, Google search and other networks like IMG, Trailways, Compara Bus, etc
The data is stored in the Operators Inventory.
After listing down all the operators, select the potential ones with whom we can partner with. Following filters can be applied:
Operators with SATISFACTORY rating on FMCSA.
Operators with motor coaches.
Operators with flexible cancellation policy.
Reach out to these filtered out operators and tell them about Rally OurBus and our business model.
If the planning team comes up with a new route or wants to extend the service of an existing route, reach out to the eligible operators and ask if they are interested.
If the operator agrees to do a particular route, the next step is to set up a cost structure. There are mainly two:-
Fixed Cost - The operator gets a fixed dollar amount for every round trip. The total revenue earned by OurBus is not of any consideration in this case.
Variable Cost:- The operator gets a share of the total revenue earned on the round trip, let’s say 70%. There are two sub categories:-
With Minimum Guarantee - The operator gets a minimum guaranteed amount if the amount of revenue share is less than this.
For example - If the revenue share agreed is 70-30 and the MG amount is $800. In this case, if the total revenue earned on a round trip is $1000, the operator’s share will be $700 but still they will get $800 because that’s the agreed MG amount.
Without Minimum Guarantee - The operator simply gets their share from the total revenue earned on a round trip.
Reseller - In this cost structure, we don’t operate any trip but we reserve a few seats on the trip operated by the operator. We sell those tickets on our website/app and get some share against that.
The next step is to send the MOU to the operator and get it signed before the route’s commencement date.
Onboard the operator:-
Walk them through our tools and processes.
Get all the necessary details like:-
COT
Operating Authority
POCs names, numbers and email ids.
Tell them about all the required amenities on the bus eg - water bottles, restroom, reclining seats, wifi and charging ports.
Walk them through the driver assignment process.
Walk them through the driver application and assure 100% compliance to that.
After the route commences, observe a few trips and if everything goes well and as planned, offer signing the contract to the operator.
Tell the operator about the contract and its benefits like:-
A steady line-run.
First right of refusal - means if there is any other route for which the particular operator is eligible, they will be the first one to be offered that route. If they deny only then we can reach out to other operators.
Branding - The name of their company gets branded amongst the customers.
If the operator agrees to the Fixed Cost or Variable Cost model, send them the TSA contract with necessary edits.
If the arrangement agreed upon is Reselling, send them the reseller contract with the necessary edits.
Follow up with the operator and get the signed contract.
